Laura McGee

As a Co-founder & Chair of Summit Leaders, Laura combines an entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for mentoring and talent development. Laura currently works as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. Prior to that, she articled at a large corporate law firm. While in law school, Laura helped found a business law clinic, the Business Development Society, and an annual “women in leadership” conference. She has worked at two start-ups and continues to work with entrepreneurs. In her spare time, Laura enjoys running, baking and chatting about crazy ideas.

Jennifer Bates

Jennifer Bates is a Director of Summit Leaders. Jennifer holds an Honours Bachelor of Science, a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degree, each from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Oxford. During her MBA, she was part of the University of Toronto’s Creative Destruction Lab, where she worked with start-ups and gained an important appreciation of the value of mentorship in the development of entrepreneurial skills. Jennifer has experience in organizing and working for not-for-profit organizations, having previously acted as Chapter Development Officer for the Canadian Association for Girls in Science. She is presently completing her law articles at Cassels Brock & Blackwell, focusing on corporate law.

David St Bernard

David is a third year JD/MBA at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Rotman School of Management. Prior to these degrees, David completed degrees in both Kinesiology and Psychology. He summered at Bennett Jones LLP, which is a full service Bay Street law firm. David is also a member of Team Vicis, which won the Hult Prize@ competition and will represent UofT at the regionals in Dubai. David is a former varsity track and field athlete who competed in triple jump and the decathlon and represented Canada as a junior.

Michael Lickver

Mike Lickver is a Toronto native, corporate commercial lawyer (specializing in technology and is one of Canada’s leading advisors in the medical marijuana industry), amateur rap superstar and part-time music and video producer. When he isn’t moonlighting on movie sets with his production company, King Motion Pictures, or closing deals in Bay Street boardrooms, he is an adjunct professor at Western Law where he created and taught the first course on medical marijuana and the law in the fall of 2015. With all of his spare time (read: none) Mike can be found breaking his ankles on the basketball court, travelling the world to climb mountains and setting world records for most golf balls lost in a single round.

Mike holds Law (J.D.) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees from the University of Western Ontario and the Richard Ivey School of Business, respectively, as well as an honours bachelor degree in Philosophy and Socio-Legal studies from York University.

Peter Blanchard

Peter’s industry experience is broad, ranging from telecommunications to banking, and mining to investing. As a consultant and Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, he has developed corporate strategy and improved operations at some of Canada’s largest companies. Before his work with McKinsey, he helped establish an entrepreneurial internal consulting team as a Business Analyst at TELUS in Vancouver.

Peter is passionate about youth education and has previously worked with Junior Achievement to support the business education of young people among Toronto’s inner-city junior high schools.

He holds an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University as well as a JD/MBA from the University of Toronto, where he focused on business law and served as a teaching assistant in both finance and economics.
